Subject: Gath Gedi in action

Dear Gath,

I am writing just about a saved brain by a Gath Gedi. The owner experienced a nasty swim on a class4 rocky river. She injured seriously on her hands but her head remained in perfect condition.

Keep up the good work, we trust in Gedis since January,
Attila Kokeny

“I am a very competitive person. If I do something I like to do it well. “

JUNE 2007

“First of all I must say the Gath Gedi is practically made for wingsuit skydivers and base jumpers alike. The body position used while flying a wingsuit, with your chin near your chest and your eyes looking up and forward toward your forehead, is protected from the wind by the design of the visor. This might not work as well for normal skydivers and freeflyers who freefall in various inverted positions, but it works
great with a wingsuit.

A common headache in skydiving and base jumping alike is having to put your goggles down in the plane or on a cliff before jumping. The goggles begin to fog up immediately and I find many people having to hold their goggles off their face until jumping. The Gedi provides a simple solution by only having to slide down the visor shortly before jumping and it doesn't fog up either way. I am surprised to say that the visor actually stays in place quite well even while jumping out of a plane and all the wind associated with it. Combined with the minimalist look and simple design I imagine many wingsuiters will find the helmet appealing.”

24 SEPTEMBER
Following jumps in Switzerland including the famous Mt Eiger…..

“I completed 49 jumps in 3 weeks. Two of those jumps were off the mushroom on the Eiger, a famous jump for base jumpers. And we did it twice in a day! Not bad for a 3 hours sketchy hike. The clear visor is working awesome. Not sure if it's because I'm being more careful with it, or it wears better then the smoke one, but I have zero issues with visibility.
Also, while in Italy I was able to make a wingsuit demo jump out of a tandem paraglider into the acro paragliding world cup championships at Garda Lake. There were hundreds of spectators and about 30 of the world’s best pilots watching as I flew my wingsuit over the crowd, deployed at about 300' and then landed on the accuracy raft in the lake. Not bad for some free publicity.”

TESTIMONIAL FROM CHRIS HEADLAND - TEAM HIGH 'N MIGHTY, UNITED KINGDOM

Posting on UK Rivers Guidebook Forum
February 2007

I found myself in the same position as Dan Heyworth not so long ago having to make the decision between two helmets. I kept hurting my neck from capsizing in my Strutter and the forces on the peak kept causing it to rotate exposing my forehead.

As I was starting to push myself a little I decided a more creeking orientated helmet was in order and I tried quite a few lids regarding fit. I originally really wanted a Rocker but the sizing didn?t work for me and I found it uncomfortable and the back of my head. At this point I looked elsewhere and found the Gedi.

I haven?t looked back. I personally have never used the visor to protect my face I have however used it when paddling into the sun late in the day when I couldn?t see for the glare off the water. It fits MY head securely and I PERSONALLY find the coverage practically faultless.

I recently received one of the biggest hits I've ever had with a helmet where I was front looped into a concrete wall after mucking up a hammer on a 12 foot drop. The impact was good enough to chip a fairly large chunk on concrete off the wall and onto my deck however I walked away with nothing but a sore neck. I?m happy this helmet will save my life and I've just ordered one for the girlfriend.

My advice is this... IF you are looking for a helmet then give it a try; make your own mind up.... it comes in more size options than any other lid I know of and a good fit is (in my mind) one of the most important things when choosing a helmet. ! ??

Hi Sue,
I just thought I'd e-mail to let you know the new Gedi with extra paddling probably saved my life on Sunday!!
I was actually using it while mountain biking. I came off my bike when a sharp right turn approached too fast on a gravel surface. I was doing about 50km/hr - 30mph when I hit a ditch and I eventually hit my head on a rock.

The helmet absorbed the impact very well. It was comfortable the entire time. I must say hats off to
you guys. I love it and have total confidence in it now after that crash. I was always wondering if they'd
hold up to an impact like this while steep creeking. I've answered that question for myself:) I wasn't
injured at all. My friends couldn't believe I didn't break my neck or get hurt at all!! I was told it was a
very spectacular crash. Too bad I don't have it on tape:)

My friends also couldn't believe
1. the helmet was not broken and
2. I didn't break my neck or have any concussion.
The padding in that helmet felt great I must say!
It looks bad on my behalf wearing your helmets while out biking I know, but that Gedi was so comfortable and light weight I figured it would do until I got a full face helmet when I can afford it.

Regards from Ireland,
Moe

TESTIMONIAL FROM TED PIPER - GEDI SAVED ME FROM SERIOUS HEAD INJURY

Subject: Happy (kayaking) Gath helmet owner!!

I am currently on a three and a half month Kayaking trip around Europe, before I left England I was lucky enough to purchase a Gath (Gedi) helmet. So far I have visited Corsica, France and am currently in Italy moving on to Switzerland, Austria and Norway.

I just wanted to drop you a quick e-mail to say how well the helmet is holding up and how much interest I have had regarding your helmet.

Whilst in Corsica I ran a 10metre vertical waterfall, unfortunately on the landing I hit a rock just under the water with my head and shoulder, my shoulder took two weeks to recover from the impact but I felt nothing on my head!! So big thanks to you guys, you have saved me from what could have been a serious injury to my head.
The interest has been huge everywhere so far, I get stopped everyday on the water asking where I got the helmet and where they can get one.

Cheers and thanks again.
Best regards.
Ted Piper.

TESTIMONIAL FROM DAN HEYWORTH - GEDI SAVED MY HEAD AND PERHAPS MY LIFE!

Hi Sue,

Sorry for not getting back to you for a while, I'd been struggling to find water to go kayaking on (no rain and no surf) .
Firstly, I've been really impressed with the helmets performance, whilst wearing the helmet recently I took my biggest ever head impact. I landed on my head in the surf from over 2m into less that a 30cm of water on the reef, I managed to hurt my back and neck a bit, but my head escaped any injury,
the helmet certainly did its job (see attached images), you can see how much the helmet flexed/ absorbed during the impact from the scratches. I think it certainly saved my life or at least prevented me from getting a more serious injury.

Secondly I've managed to show the helmets to those that were interested in them and they all want one! I have also shown them to Glenn Burgess the proprietor of High N Mighty and I believe he is going to contact you directly at some point in the near future.

Many thanks .... and best regards,

Dan Heyworth

TESTIMONIAL FROM THE LEGENDARY DAN GAVERE

(Dan was on the US Freestyle Kayak team in 93,95,97,99,01 and the Team Manager and Coach for the 3 World Champs in Austria when USA won 2 Gold Medals and basically dominated the event. In 1993 Dan was 2nd place in the Freestyle event which really fuelled his passion and career in paddle sports. After that he did a ton of paddling, photography and moved to production becoming the first full time sponsored freestyle kayaker in the history of the sport.)

Dan writes

“I am loving the Helmet I wore it virtually everyday last week. 3 days of extreme kayaking on the Little White Salmon here near my house. I love the way the ear vents open and close. They really help from
violent flips straight onto my ear while paddling. The water is super cold and I have to wear ear plugs because my ears are 95% closed from surfers ear/exostosis. I love how light the helmet is and the new style is much better than the older style Gath's . I am concerned about how I look while paddling because of my reputation... I paddled with about 30 different people over the 3 days and we had visitors from allover the world and country in town for a big movie premier. Lot were looking at and asking about it. Luckily I didn't have to use and stayed mostly upright the whole time.

I also used it for 2 days over the weekend while stand up surfing some rather big waves on the Oregon coast. I really like the visibility out of the helmet and the ear vents open allowed me to have a bit of cooling because I was too hot with all the rubber I was wearing. Everyone loves the color (olive Gedi) and the shape is nice and streamlined. Overall I think you guys have a great product and I am especially stoked on it. I can also see this being a great surf and tow in helmet with the eye shields especially.”

TESTIMONIAL FROM THOMAS COETZEE - NATIONAL SEA RESCUE INSTITUTE SOUTH AFRICA
